You don't have to be of Irish descent (although I am and it helps) to enjoy this effort by the High Kings. If a CD can get my 15 year old son to sing along with me, then I judge it to be a success. Some will probably complain that the whole package is too slick. This album has great production values, infectious tunes, marvellous voices, and a surprisingly good percussion section. Being a fan of acapella music, I particularly enjoyed "Galway to Graceland". I would prefer the word "professional". Thanks, lads.
Have any of the folks that have slammed this kind of stuff ever been to Ireland. Well, I was expecting rather insipid stuff. I got a few tunes, then realized that I'd probably like them all. Hey, this is Irish music. Before you thumb your nose, consider how important songwriting, being together, and maintaining pride and history in one's county matters.I love this stuff, and I'm only 3/4 Irish. I have.
Do they know anything about Irish history. but I did find these guys by looking at the iTunes 'Celebrity Playlist'.and Steve Martin suggested this album. Do they have any Irish blood. Happy, homeland music. Not flaky. How much horror and pain this country has gone thru - continues to go through.
So there.
As a lover of all things Irish, I was hoping to enjoy this new group, but I absolutely love the entire CD. I am anxiously awaiting anything new from them and highly recommend this for anybody who likes Celtic music.
I WAS VERY SURPRISED AT HOW GREAT THE MUSIC SOUNDS. THIS IS A GREAT IRISH BAND THAT PLAYS SOME GREAT IRISH MUSIC.
I enjoy their music. It differs from what I expected but is very enjoyable.
